2006 Walt Peregoy

Artist Walt Peregoy began his formal art training at age nine, and went to work for Walt Disney when he was 17. His career was interrupted for a stint in the Coast Guard during World War II and for further art training abroad (including time in Paris with Fernand Leger), but he resumed his Disney career in 1951. He served as designer and animator on Peter Pan and Lady and the Tramp, and did color and background styling for Paul Bunyan, 101 Dalmatians, The Saga of Windwagon Smith, Mary Poppins and The Jungle Book. He did background styling on The Sword in the Stone and was the lead background painter on Sleeping Beauty. During the late 1960s and early ‘70s, Walt worked on several animated and live action television series. He returned to Disney in 1977 to work with Imagineering on designs for Epcot. His work includes architectural facades, sculptures and murals in The Land pavilion and the original Journey Into Imagination pavilion.
