2005 Orlando Ferrante

Imagineer Orlando Ferrante had a 40-year Disney career that spanned three continents, the 1964 World’s Fair, two generations of theme parks, and the Disney Cruise Line. His first job was as an expediter, overseeing the installation of the Enchanted Tiki Room. In 1966, he helped coordinate the relocation and installation of attractions from the New York World’s Fair (including It’s a Small World, the Carousel of Progress and Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln) to Disneyland. That same year, he established a new department called Project Installation Coordinating Office (PICO), which has become the model for how Imagineers install shows and coordinate their project work from a show standpoint. He held several executive positions in Imagineering before moving to France in 1990 to serve as vice president of show/ride engineering, production and installation at EuroDisney (now Disneyland Paris). Before he retired in 2002, Orlando moved to Venice, Italy, to help launch the Disney Wonder (the second Disney Cruise Line ship), and went on to head show/ride engineering, design and production of Tokyo DisneySea.
