2006 George Britton

Beginning in 1969, George Britton spent two years rebuilding the four steam locomotives purchased for Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. He officially joined the Disney payroll in 1971, and stayed for 35 years. George takes great pride in the fact that there has been a train at the park’s entrance to greet the day’s first Guests every morning since the opening of the Magic Kingdom and that the Magic Kingdom trains have never jumped the track. In 1976 (in addition to his normal responsibilities as head of the round house), he helped with the Fort Wilderness trains and with building the track for them.  He helped build the pylons for the Monorail, and he was a consultant for the trains at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
