2009 Bruce Gordon

Bruce Gordon became an avid Disneyland fan after his first visit as a young boy, shortly after the park opened in 1955. In 1980, Bruce was hired by Imagineering to work on projects at Epcot, including the Journey Into Imagination attraction. WDI then assigned him to the New Fantasyland Team at Disneyland during the 1983 re-do of that land. Following the Fantasyland makeover, Gordon was the show producer for Disneyland’s Splash Mountain, followed by work on the 1998 Tomorrowland makeover, Tarzan’s Treehouse, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and initial show producer for the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage (which opened in 2007). Bruce left WDI in 2005, after which he served as show producer and creative consultant for the Walt Disney Family Museum. Bruce is known for his sideline: writing books. Along with his longtime friend and colleague, David Mumford, and others, his books include Disneyland: The Nickel Tour; Walt’s Time: From Before to Beyond; Disneyland: Then, Now and Forever; The Art of Disneyland; Walt Disney World: Then, Now and Forever; The Art of Walt Disney World; A Brush with Disney: An Artist's Journey; and Ellenshaw Under Glass. Bruce was an especially good friend of the NFFC, and his convention appearances with David Mumford (The Bruce and David Show) remain legendary for all who were fortunate enough to see them. Bruce passed away in November, 2007.
