1998 Collin Campbell

Collin Campbell started working half-time in the mailroom in 1943, but didn’t really begin his career until 1954, after his war service and college.   As an animator, he did layout work for Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty and the short, The Truth About Mother Goose. He also worked with Peter Ellenshaw, creating matte paintings for such films as  Darby O’Gill and the Little People. In 1960, he did the animation layout for 101 Dalmatians.  After that, Collin worked on the Tiki Room and Pirates of the Caribbean (for which he built the model of the Blue Bayou). He did concept art for the Walt Disney World resorts, and for the train ride through Fort Wilderness. He supervised the design for many of Epcot’s World Showcase pavilions, most notably Mexico. Collin also served as art director on Typhoon Lagoon.
