1999 Virginia Davis

It didn’t really all start with a mouse. It started in 1923 with a four-year-old girl named Virginia Davis, who was Walt’s first human star. She appeared in the first 13 titles of his Alice Comedies series, a blend of live action and animation. Her titles include Alice’s Day at Sea, Alice’s Wild West Show and Alice’s Spooky Adventure. After 13 films, Virginia retired from playing Alice. Later, Virginia had a stint in Walt’s ink and paint department. And she had a further career in Hollywood (her films include The Harvey Girls opposite Judy Garland), and later careers in magazine publishing and real estate.
